Online Passive Income Report for December 2016

A bit late on the December Earnings update. I’ve been traveling again back to Canada where I’m taking a couple month break from Thailand. It’s always more difficult to get any real work done when you travel!

I’m going to make this update a short one. These updates are just getting to be too big and taking too much time.

I’ve got so many projects going on these days that it’s quite hard to budget any time to write new posts here.

December Affiliate Earnings

Pretty minor here. More of the same as the previous months, which means almost nothing.

The good news is that now, as of time of writing this, I’m finally working on improving my affiliate offer earnings. I’ve gone through a number of targetted affiliate programs matching some of the content on one of my bigger sites and have set up the links.

It’s a work in progress though. I’m using Thirsty Affiliates Autolinker to insert the links into keywords, but for better conversions, I’ll need to manually insert links into the right posts. I’ll also need to create specific articles targeting those programs in the form of reviews.

It’s my hope we’ll see this income finally improve over the next few months — hopefully by quite alot!

December Affiliate Earnings: $151.64

December Disqus Ad Earnings

Didn’t have enough time to take these ads off my sites. They earn shit. I’ll include the few dollars they made here though.

November Disqus Earnings: $24.03

December Direct Advertising Earnings

I didn’t sell many ads over December. Only one in fact. So as direct advertising goes, it was pretty slow. This is typical though in December.

December Direct Advertising Earnings: $250 (USD)

December Adsense Earnings

Much better than last month, which was incomplete due to not validating my account for the first 20 days or so. Due to all the christmas traffic, the click values might have gone up as well. My Adsense is still a long way from the 2010-2011 days where I would be pulling in 10,000 USD months, but most of my best sites don’t use Adsense, so it’s expected. I’ll be glad if I can pull Adsense up to 2000-3000 a month, which is my goal.

December Adsense Earnings: $603.73 (USD)

December Media.net Earnings

Media.net was my biggest disappointment during the  Christmas month. I thought it would do better, but click values (and traffic to some of the sites) fell off during the month. The result is that I earned 2000 less than I did the month before. I had high hopes it was going to reach 7000 after the string of 6,000 months, but December did 4600. This drop in media.net review sunk my overall take for the month down by a bit.

However, it seems seasonal as the month of January is, after a couple weeks, showing a recovery. I suspect media.net will still end lower than November in the January month, but higher than the  December. I’ve noticed these trends before with Adsense, so I suspect it’s just a seasonal thing.

December Media.net Earnings: $4,636.70

December Amazon Earnings

Finally we come to my pride and joy and my biggest money maker: Amazon Associates. It’s been on a rises from month to month since I started reporting my earnings back in April 2016, with most months showing more and more.

I’ve talked a lot about hoping to cash in the Christmas rush which has, in the past, usually been about double the regular earnings due to the increase conversions. Anyone who promotes with Amazon will see a significant upturn for December.

Here’s what Amazon made me for December:

With November doing a whopping $12,582.37, I was really hoping on dramatically increasing this. I had, based on seeing previous year’s double. However, this doubling was probably due to the type of sites I had. Now, I have more sites and ones in different niches, so this may have affected things. No doubling of earnings, unfortunately. November, with the black friday weekend and cyber monday, as higher than the October month. So compared to the regular months, I did see a big increase — say 40%. However, I also had some sites gain more traffic which might have helped things, so it’s hard to say exactly what. Earnings were much higher though.

December Amazon Earnings: $17,673.25

The Final Word

December was a good month. I made over 23,000 dollars, UP by $3,000 from the month before. I was hoping for a bit more, but my earnings increased where it really mattered: Amazon.

Media.net did 2000 less, which sunk my earnings, due to what seems to be seasonal flucuations. My Direct Advertising Income was $1000 less than then it was the month before. So all in all, these two variables reduced my income by $3000. Had things remained the same, I might have pulled in close to 27,000 USD.

However, the good news is my Amazon did $5000 more in December than it did in November.

We’ll see what happens over the January month. As we are 20 days into January, Amazon looks like it’s been doing amazingly well — just as good as Christmas even. I had my best day ever a few days ago. So January may turn out to be a really good month.

Anyways, that’s it for the (late) december earnings report.

Now that the 2016 year is done, I should probably calculate up what I made in total. However, I only started to track my earning reports from April, so that leaves a few months not accounted for. However, I was pulling something like 7000-8000 s month for the first four months. I may crunch some numbers to see what 2016 in total did me. But without a doubt, my income has significantly increased over the year.

I’m hoping (and working my ass off) that the 2017 year will see my earnings explode even more. I’m working on a bunch of new projects to bring in new income:

  • A kindle ebook
  • Launch of our own physical product
  • Possibility of another physical product launch with a new site
  • 2 new amazon niche sites created (will take about a year though to see results)
  • Improving affiliate offer earnings
  • Huge content push over all my sites

That’s it!

Have a happy 2017!

Ben
